THE ORIGIN OF YOUR JEWEL

Drawing
One of the first stages in creating your precious piece of jewelry is called drawing, and it takes place while the material is still raw: a very thin silver sheet enters a perforated tube, with the diameter of the earring to be created, wrapping itself around a non-precious metal (copper or other).
Among goldsmiths, this internal metal is called the "core" of the piece, because it remains invisible inside, allowing the product to take on the correct external shape and be worked optimally during all subsequent phases.

Forming
To obtain earrings, for example, the material is twisted in a spiral around a steel bar, which defines its size based on the diameter of the desired piece. Once formed, this spiral is called "the chasing spine".
The earrings are then placed flat under a mechanical press to even out the cutting line, an operation which, if the product dimensions allow, can also be carried out by hand using pliers.
Purification
At the beginning of the process, a small part of the non-precious metal that formed the core is still present alongside the silver. This is then eliminated through a chemical process that takes an entire night: at the end, the jewelry is finally pure 925 silver.
It is then cut with a special saw and sent for soldering, where the housing for the clasp is created.
Roughing
We proceed with the phase called "roughing": the product is immersed in a mixture of water, specific soap (which prevents the jewelry from overheating), and small steel spheres, all inside a rotating container that, as it turns, polishes the surfaces. The entire process lasts from 4 to 5 hours (in some cases, pumice stone or wood are used instead of steel spheres).

Finishing
The piece of jewelry is then dried, brushed by hand, and further refined during polishing with the help of a specific machine.
After a final check, your piece of jewelry is finally ready to be packaged, shipped... and worn!
